Cookie Policy

We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working, remember your saved homes, and understand usage in aggregate. Here is every category and how to turn off the optional ones.

Last updated October 5, 2026 Effective October 1, 2026

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences between pages and visits. We also use closely related technologies — browser local storage, session storage and pixel tags — and in this policy we refer to all of them collectively as “cookies.”

2. Categories we use

Cookie categories used on this site
CategoryPurposeTypical lifetimeCan you disable it?
Strictly necessary Load balancing, security tokens, spam protection on forms, and remembering your cookie choices. Session to 12 months No — the site will not function without these
Preferences Saved favorite listings, recent searches, sort order and filter state, stored in your browser's local storage. Until you clear your browser Yes — clear site data in your browser
Analytics Aggregate measurement of pages viewed, searches run and errors encountered, so we can fix problems and prioritize work. Up to 13 months Yes
Advertising Measuring the performance of our own campaigns and limiting how often you see the same ad. Up to 13 months Yes

We do not use cookies to build profiles of your health, finances, religion or political views, and we do not permit third parties to use cookies on our site to build advertising profiles for their own unrelated purposes.

3. How to manage cookies

You can control cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser lets you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, delete existing cookies, or clear site data for a specific site. Look for “Privacy and security” in Chrome and Edge, “Privacy & Security” in Firefox, or “Privacy” in Safari.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of this site, including form submission and saved favorites. Blocking preference cookies will cause your saved listings to disappear between visits.

Opting out of advertising

Industry opt-out tools let you decline interest-based advertising across many participating companies at once. The Digital Advertising Alliance operates a consumer choice page, as does the Network Advertising Initiative. Note that these tools set an opt-out cookie, so clearing your cookies will also clear the opt-out.

4. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

There is still no common industry standard for responding to browser Do Not Track headers, so we do not respond to DNT signals.

We do honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing of personal information for the browser that sent it. Because the signal is tied to that browser, you will need to enable it on each browser and device you use.

5. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our use of cookies changes materially, and we will revise the “last updated” date accordingly. Questions can go to privacy@americanhomesonline.net.
